Welcome
Welcome to Canterbury School, an Episcopal school serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade in Greensboro, North Carolina. Since the school’s founding, Canterbury has sought to educate the whole child by both challenging the minds and nourishing the spirits of our students.
Our goal of challenging the mind compels us to hold our students to the highest standards of scholarship and achievement. Our curriculum requires Canterbury’s students to think deeply and creatively about their academic pursuits and about the world in which they live. Teachers extend the learning environment beyond the classroom and onto the playing field, the stage, and into the laboratory. All of this is accomplished within a caring environment that recognizes that each child constitutes a vital component of our school community.
Our goal of nourishing the spirit emanates from our belief that an education is not complete without the moral and spiritual foundation that develops through religious exploration. Canterbury students think carefully about their own spirituality and the spirituality of others. Like all Episcopal schools, Canterbury accepts students of all religious faiths and beliefs. In fact, Canterbury’s diversity is one of the school’s greatest attributes.
These educational dimensions, and others, create an experience that endures long after our students graduate. It is our hope that the education we provide will not only change the lives of our students, but also allow our graduates to influence positively the world in which we all live.
I hope this website provides you with a better appreciation of Canterbury and all that it has to offer. Having said that, there is no substitute for visiting our campus. Canterbury is a vibrant, welcoming community that is best experienced by watching the school in action.
