Annual Fund

The 2007-2008 Annual Fund Committee Co-Chairs, Lucy and Henry Sackett

Canterbury School’s Annual Fund allows us to offer our students the essentials that make the difference between a good education and a great one. Fundamentally, the Annual Fund also helps bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Canterbury education.

The 2006-2007 Rise and Shine: It’s a New Day campaign, led by co-chairs Barbara and Pat Palmer, raised $330,000. More importantly, parent participation reached 91% and faculty, staff and board members continued their participation level of 100%.

Parents, Lucy and Henry Sackett, take the lead this year as co-chairs of the 2007-2008 Make Your Mark campaign. With your help, their goal is to raise over $325,000 in operating funds and to achieve 100% parent, Board and staff participation.

We invite each family to consider an Annual Fund commitment every year. High parent participation reflects our level of commitment to the education of our children and the mission of our school.

Other Fund Raising Events

Each year, Canterbury sponsors at least one special event to raise operating revenue in addition to the Annual Fund. Last year, the Canterbury Open Golf Tournament and Spring Fling raised over $45,000 in unrestricted funds. The Canterbury Parent’s Association is busy planning this year’s auction fundraising event.

Gifts-In-Kind and Volunteer Services

Gifts-In-Kind and Volunteer Services Gifts of goods and professional services may be donated to Canterbury School and are deductible to the extent permitted by law. All gifts-in-kind are subject to acceptance review by the Head of School or a designated representative.

Parents, staff and friends of Canterbury volunteer hundreds of hours to the school each year. The gift of time is truly appreciated and makes many special programs possible at Canterbury. While parent involvement is strongly encouraged, it is indeed voluntary.
