At Canterbury, Middle School students benefit considerably from being part of a K-8 school. Removed from high school pressure to grow up too quickly, yet presented with the opportunity to be the student leaders of our school community, they have the dual gift of being able to act their age while learning vital leadership skills that bolster confidence and nourish self-esteem. With a Middle School of roughly 125 students, our size also allows us to provide more opportunities for students to participate, for there is no room to become a faceless figure amid the masses or to be a mere bystander.
Members of our community – teachers, students, administrators, parents, grandparents, and others – all know that at Canterbury we are a family. Walk through our halls, tour our campus, attend a chapel service or a special celebration, and the spirit of family prevails and pervades. Ultimately, our small, dynamic community supports the maxim that less is more, and what we lack in size and splendor pales in comparison to our small flock gathered in worship or service learning, in study or play, in mourning or in celebration.
