Venture Out

Canterbury is the only independent school in Greensboro to have an Outdoor Education Center.  Students and teachers work together in unique ways to demonstrate that vital learning takes place outside of the traditional classroom. On-site facilities include low and high ropes elements, a climbing wall, a pond for water activities, and a nature and fitness trail. With the help of certified educators, students use these program elements to identify and master skill sets such as cooperation, collaboration, teamwork, listening, self-awareness, goal setting, and fun.

Learning opportunities not only take place during the school day but through after school programs, weekend adventures, and special events.

Generally our after school programs are comprised of four weekly sessions with a special focus appropriate for the grade level. Classes include eco-explorers, canoeing, mountain biking, low and high ropes. Please click on the seasonal class schedule for more information.

Weekend and adult adventures include biking, overnight camping, and low and high ropes course. We will work with your family or group to develop an individualized adventure that best meets your needs or interests.

Our staff feels blessed to work with the Canterbury community.

Please let us know how we can help.
