Chapel Services

Worship is central to the life of the school. Chapel services are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Parents and other guests are invited to attend. The Book of Common Prayer, the Bible, the 1982 Hymnal, and other liturgical resources are used to reflect the Episcopal nature of the school, as well as the religious diversity of Canterbury's population. Students, staff, parents, and trustees assist the chaplain in leading worship services, and many eighth graders choose to deliver a sermon before they graduate. Particular services of note are Founders' Day, All Saints' Day, Lessons and Carols, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter. Chapel is most often conducted in Phillips Chapel, a traditional Gothic worship space, but it is also occasionally held in our outdoor chapel, which has an altar and baptismal font. Services of Holy Eucharist are held for the entire Canterbury community four times a year.
