The Arts
The arts are alive and well at Canterbury School! In our beautiful Stafford Arts Center, students in Kindergarten through sixth grade attend classes in art, and students in Kindergarten through fourth grade attend classes in general music. In grades five through eight, musical instruction shifts to a yearlong study of either band or chorus. Seventh and eighth grade students also pursue specific interests such as songwriting, yearbook, art, handbells, drama, and digital design through our electives program. A wide array of after-school arts opportunities, including individual and group lessons in dance, yoga, art, piano, violin, and guitar are available to students of all ages. In the fall and spring, monologues and dramatic vignettes are performed by students in the drama elective, and Winter and Spring Arts Festivals provide a showcase of student art, poetry read by candlelight, displays of web-pages, and choir, band, and handbell performances. Each year, visiting artists are invited to campus to share their creative experiences and talents with our students.
